Beacon Gymnastics

Phil 2:14-15"... Shine as LIGHTS in the world."

About Beacon

Beacon Gymnastics began operations in June of 2004.  It is my desire to offer fun, quality gymnastic instruction that is affordable.

Many people ask about the name "Beacon."  The name came before the lighthouse theme- not the other way around, but they do fit nicely together.  First Peter 4:10 says, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering  God's grace in it's various forms."  While gymnastics is not the type of gift that is likely being referenced here, I have always considered it a gift, and I wanted a name for my gym that would be a reminder to me of my real purpose in coaching gymnastics.  In John 8:12 Jesus says, "I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."  And Philippians 2:14-15 says, "Do all things without murmuring  and disputing, that you may...shine as lights in the world."  These as well as other biblical references to light along with some brainstorming let me to the name "Beacon."  Matthew 5:16 says, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven."  I hope to teach every one of my students to be a star by letting their lights shine!

The "Staff"

Rene Wilson is owner/operator/primary instructor for Beacon Gymnastics.  I have been involved in gymnastics since 1978.  I was a competitive gymnast for about 6 of those years from age 9 -14.  At age 14 I "out-grew" the sport (there is a reason why gymnasts are not very tall), and became involved as an instructor.  I have coached off and on since then.  I have only been coaching competitive gymnastics since 2005, and each year our team grows stronger as I learn along with them.  It is my goal as a coach to help each child grow to his or her potential and enjoy the sport of gymnastics.  I love watching the kids grow and develop confidence, strength, and self-discipline through gymnastics.

Britany Brady and Kyla Renfro are assistant instructors that help with upper level classes.  Both girls attend Sterling College and were Level 7 competitive gymnasts.  It is great to have them helping out and adding their experience to our gym instruction.
